The New Zealand Transport authority requires renewal of driver’s licence when you turn 75, at age 80 and every 2 years after that. Class 2-5 licences may also require re certification. This requires obtaining a medical certificate from your doctor. Your doctor is legally obliged to check that you are safe to drive and will consider many aspects of your health at the assessment. These always require a dedicated appointment and we cannot attend to other medical issues at these appointments.
These require booking via reception so adequate time is set aside. These medicals are best done by the doctor you usually see and that knows you best. There is no government subsidy for these medicals therefore full charges apply. ($75)
At times a mini ACE (memory) test may be required which will require a separate appointment.
